EDUCATION
Maarif Schools of Sarajevo consists out of the kindergarten, primary and secondary school, based on Curriculum of the Sarajevo Canton in Bosnian, English and Turkish language, with the most up-to-date equipment and teaching aids. Students also have the support in non-formal education through various centers for education and foreign language learning, extra-currricular activities including art workshops, cultural programs, sports activities and scientific-educational trips.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT
In Maarif Campus there is a modern sports hall, a library, a modern equipped laboratory, a conference hall, a school restaurant, cabinets for informatics, robotics and natural sciences, an atelier and an exhibition space.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Every student in Maarif Schools, is eligible to obtain a scholarship (discount on tuition) for both primary school and high school. All students are welcome to apply for the scholarship and receive a scholarship discount. Based on the competencies and the abilities they show on the test, but also based on the results in the previous period, the amount of the scholarship is determined.
Maarif Kindergarten is a private preschool institution that deals with upbringing and education of children, from one-year-olds until they start school. Our Kindergarten provides proper growing up in a safe surrounding and development of pre-school children. The programme in our Institution is based on the fact that children learn independently, and is designed for their optimal development. Every child is encouraged to choose activities according to his or her own interests and abilities. Our aim is to help children develop at their own pace.
We monitor the development of every child, and consequently, we adjust activities, material and work plan on a daily basis. Every child is carefully monitored and directed to a corner for which he or she shows interest. Our monthly and weekly projects follow our curriculum.We also create creative workshops with children daily. Besides, there is a preparatory programme before they start school. Each educational area is interconnected and involves the use of all senses, and contains self-control of error.
We do our best to help every child make progress and build through the following developmental stages: cognitive development, development of social skills, emotional development, speech development, and motor development. In addition to regular daily activities we also have specialised activities: Art education, Music education, English, Turkish and Religion. The Kindergarten has a large space both in its interior and outside. In addition to the classrooms, we also have a large room intended only for playing, dining rooms for meals, dormitories and a park located in front of the Kindergarten.
The classrooms are equipped with modern toys and materials, adapted to each age group. The diet in our Kindergarten is based on fresh food and here children are offered a healthy meal with fresh seasonal fruit every day. Our expert team works hard every day to bring innovative and creative ideas to help children develop their creativity, logical and critical thinking.
The obligation, responsibility and role of our educators is to support the development of the full potential of each child, starting from his developmental level, interests and needs. Educators develop plans and programmes that stimulate the game and actively engage. They make children feel secure and accepted, helping children develop self-confidence, self-management and independence, but at the same time analyse their own work, developing their professional competencies.
The professional team of our Institution develops partnership with families, and adheres to the code of ethics of the profession, working for the best interests of every child, encourages professional relations with colleagues and the principal, and therefore contributes to the development of preschool institutions and the profession as a whole. Our goal is a happy and satisfied child, as well as a proud and satisfied parent.
Primary education enables development and progress of each student in accordance with their diverse learning abilities. Education goals in Maarif Primary School are focused on supporting students’ intellectual, emotional, social, moral and physical development. In that respect, our school pays close attention to boosting student creativity, acquiring high-quality knowledge and skills, building self-confidence, fostering self-initiative, learning about the importance of health awareness and protection and preservation of natural environment.
There are two levels of education in primary school: from 1st to 4th grade and from 5th to 9th grade. Regular school classes in Maarif Primary School are held in Bosnian following a teaching curriculum and syllabus of the Canton of Sarajevo. Students also study two languages: Bosnian and Turkish. Lessons from natural science subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Biology, Chemistry and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are held in English. In addition to regular school classes both of these educational levels are enriched by extracurricular activities, which include workshops and after-school clubs.
